HIPAAeasy's
kits include two types of chart label stickers. The labels
are a key element in executing
your new responsibilities under HIPAA.
The Green Label
A Green label on the chart folder clearly indicates that
the patient has received your notice of privacy practices,
saving lookup time for the staff. Further,
it lets the staff know that the patient has not requested any special handling
of their Private Health Information (PHI).
The Red Label
A Red label on the chart folder alerts the staff that the patient has requested
special handling of their PHI. HIPAA clearly outlines your patients' privacy
rights and places serious responsibility on the staff of a medical practice
to document and carry out their requests. Failure to carry out such requests
can have serious consequences for your practice.
For instance, under HIPAA patients are now allowed to request that you only
communicate with them at certain phone numbers, for example at their home,
or office, and nowhere else. When such a request is made, HIPAAeasy's red
chart label, placed on the outside of their folder, will alert the staff
that the
patient has requested certain special handling. The staff member will now
know to look in the chart for the appropriate HIPAAeasy Forms for further
instructions.
The labels are 3.5”x1.75”, with the long edge perforated at 3''
so that the label can be placed at the edge of the folder and folded over,
ensuring that the label is visible on both sides of the folder.
